Who's on Air

Camey Doucet

Camey Doucet was born April 4, 1939, in Crowley, Louisiana and is best known for his radio work. He began by deejaying a Saturday afternoon French music program for  AM 1560 KAJN radio and made his first record while working at KAJN. From KAJN, he went to KSIG, KLVI in Beaumont, Texas, and then back again to KSIG.  Camey has been on the air and running KROF Radio in Lafayette, Louisiana, since his debut in August 1997.

Camey has recorded several 45s, five albums and one CD. He has done some French gospel songs and has composed some new and different songs which have been popular, such as "Who stole the Pies." Probably Camey's best known song which touched the many hearts is "Mom, I'm Still Your Little Boy".

In '04, Camey was presented the "Contributing Contribution to Cajun Music" award by the Cajun French Music Association which is meant to thank him for his absolute dedication to Cajun music and its preservation.

And now, a few words from the man himself:

"I Love music. I remember winning $5 in a singing contest in Crowley when I was 14 years young. I hope to be around for as long as God will give me the health to do so...he is my savior...Jesus"

You can catch Camey Doucet's 'Bon Temp Train' Tuesday through Saturday from 6-10am, as well as Sundays from 6-9am. If you're in need of some inspirational music, then check out the Gospel show Sundays from 1-3pm.
